Gerri Kohn, Borland's ILL person, completed her studies last May and was awarded an MLS degree.  She has just accepted a new position.  She will be a solo librarian at St. Lukes Hospital right here in Jacksonville. She will be sorely missed, but we are proud of her and wish her the best in her first postion as a Professional Medical Librarian.  Her last day here will be March 7,2008.

All Staff Meeting Canceled

The Communication Committee has canceled the All Staff Meeting for this Thursday, Oct. 18.

Since we are interviewing a director candidate that day, and more over the next few weeks, we will reconvene at the next scheduled All Staff meeting on Nov. 15th at 3:00 pm to discuss all the director candidates (and whatever else is happening).

In the meantime, when more information is available about various important issues affecting the HSC Libraries, we will communicate via email and through your CommComm representative.

The October 17, 2007 issue of The Alligator carries a story about the discovery of mold on sections of the HSCL's monograph and bound journal collection, as well as the remediation steps being taken to correct the problem. Interim Director Beth Layton is quoted in the article. Follow the link below to read the story.

The October 2007 issue of The Health Science Center Post features two articles about HSCL staff members. Michele Tennant is profiled for the research she conducted on information seeking behavior of scientists. Nita Ferree, Dwight Bennett, Ned Davis and Ellie Bushhousen are profiled for their part in the "Librarians to the Rescue" video. Click the link below to read both articles.
